Launched in 2011, Miu Miu Women’s Tales is the longest-running platform supporting the creation of short films by women and about women – or, more specifically, femininity and its relationship with vanity. Its latest commission is helmed by the incisive French filmmaker Alice Diop, whose short Fragments for Venus is a powerful reclamation of identity pertinent to the times.

For its 30th chapter, Miu Miu Women’s Tales hands the camera to French filmmaker Alice Diop, whose work has long centred on those rarely seen in cinema or society. Her short film, Fragments for Venus, which premiered under the Venice Film Festival's Giornate degli Autori section this August 30, extends the series’s over-decade-long exploration of how women see and represent themselves with piercing perceptiveness.

The house of Chanel has been a committed champion of the film world since founder Gabrielle Chanel started dressing the actresses from the United Artists studio at the request of American producer Samuel Goldwyn in the 1930s. Besides styling stars on screen and off, the brand has been an active supporter of international movie festivals, institutions and directors (local auteur Eric Khoo was one of them); has helped to restore classics such as the enigmatic Last Year at Marienbad (1961); and often draws inspiration from cinema. For Cruise 2025/26, it pays homage to the glamour of the silver screen as well as Coco Chanel's decades-spanning friendship with legendary Italian filmmaker Luchino Visconti. DAYS OF BEING WILD

It began life as the Golden Theatre - Singapore's largest cinema when it opened in 1973 – and was transformed 11 years ago by Karen Tan, Sharon Tan and Blaise Trigg-Smith into The Projector. A bold, indie institution residing in Golden Mile Tower, it challenged the rules of movie-going and became the beating heart of the city's alternative film scene. To survive though, The Projector had to be more than just a cinema - and so it evolved into a space for creative risk-taking, subculture and community. Living up to its tag line, \"Not Your Average Cinema\", it rewrote what a film venue could be. Three months on from its unexpected closure this August, co-founder Karen reflects on more than a decade of cinematic rebellion, cultural experimentation and what it meant to build - and lose - a space like no other.
