Nine months after its doors closed for renovations, St Regis Mumbai’s Sahib Room & Kipling Bar has returned, and it looks like the wait was worth it.

The restaurant, which has become something of a pilgrimage site for Mumbai's dining elite, has always traded in a particular kind of nostalgia — one that romanticises the luxurious safari camps of colonial-era India.

The Kipling Connection

The colonial concept might raise eyebrows in 2025, but there’s no denying its pull. Celebrities such as Alia Bhatt, Sachin Tendulkar and Madhuri Dixit are among the regulars who've made their way here. The restaurant draws its inspiration from the literary legacy of Rudyard Kipling and his journeys across India. The space reincarnates The Jungle Book through its design, starting with its logo - Bagheera, theatrical yes, but certainly fitting.
