From sending up the Terrible Tudors to bringing the rules of Georgian courtship to Love Island, hit children's sketch show Horrible Histories was known for its clever skits that kept kids entertained while educating them about events in the past.

Now, the makers are again weaving their magic mix of fun facts and silly songs for 15-part CBBC spin-off Horrible Science, based on the popular book series of the same name.

TV Times caught up with star Richard David-Caine, 38, who was also part of the Horrible Histories ensemble, for an exclusive interview...

How did you feel about translating Horrible Histories into a science show?

Excited! Personally, I have a deeper interest in science. History is full of incredible events, but that's all human-led, whereas science is about the laws of nature, which are even more amazing and humorous.
