SALLY BRETTON, KENNY DOUGHTY, SIR DAVID SUCHET and LUDMILLA MAKOWSKI on a story laced with hidden agendas
-
THE AU PAIR NEW MON-THU, 9PM, CHANNEL 5 DRAMA (BOX SET, 5 FORMERLY KNOWN AS MY5)
When a family hires a nanny to help with their busy lives, the consequences prove devastating in Channel 5's latest thriller The Au Pair.
The four-parter centres on seamstress Zoe Dalton (played by Beyond Paradise and Not Going Out star Sally Bretton), who lives in the Cotswolds with doctor husband Chris (Vera's Kenny Doughty) and stepchildren Amber and Noah (rising stars Margot Pue and Ripley Barden), while also caring for her diabetic father, George (Poirot's Sir David Suchet).
As Zoe, who has recently lost a baby, starts to feel the strain of juggling family and work commitments, she reluctantly agrees to employ an au pair and efficient Sandrine (Lupin's Ludmilla Makowski), who hails from France, lands the job.
However, while Sandrine initially seems like a godsend, she begins a clandestine campaign to cause trouble within the family and dark secrets soon emerge. But what are her motives for targeting them?
TV Times chatted to Sally, Kenny, David and Ludmilla to find out more...
SALLY BRETTON
PLAYS BELEAGUERED STEPMUM ZOE
'I took this role on because I hadn't done anything like it before,' shares Sally, 44. 'There's normally much more lightness in my life, because everything has been about comedy for years. And although Beyond Paradise [Sally plays fan favourite Martha Lloyd in the hit BBC1 whodunnit] touches on things that have drama and some sensitive issues, The Au Pair was a real dash at something very dramatic and I couldn't resist it.
