NATALIE QUARRY on the challenges ahead for her kind-hearted character

- CAREN CLARK

PILLAR of the COMMUNITY

CALL THE MIDWIFE

SUNDAY, 8PM, BBC1 DRAMA

Natalie Quarry can't quite believe that she's already into her second year of playing sweet but spirited nurse Rosalind Clifford in BBC1's hit drama Call the Midwife.

'It's gone so fast,' she chuckles during an exclusive interview with TV Times. 'But it is so nice coming back for another series and being with friends. I'm lucky to be in the cast, and it's such a fantastic show."

As the 14th run continues this week, Rosalind accompanies social worker Cyril Robinson (Zephryn Taitte) when he volunteers at the local homeless shelter. Forging a connection with one of its residents, Ted (Howard Ward), she tries to get the troubled man to create an arrangement on behalf of the hostel for a flower festival organised by Mayor Violet Buckle (Annabelle Apsion).

But as Rosalind also spends more time with Cyril, is romance on the horizon for two of Poplar's kindest souls?

Here, Natalie teases what to expect and reveals why she's loving life at Nonnatus House...

imageWhat do you enjoy most about playing Rosalind?

Ros is brilliant! She's strongwilled, selfless, enthusiastic and sees the best in people, although she's sometimes disappointed. She is also fun and brave, and she always keeps going after she gets knocked down.

The audience seems to like her, too. I hope they continue to do so this series, as she grows up and goes through more.

Why does she want to help at the homeless shelter?

She's keen to spend more time with Cyril, because they're friends, but she also loves helping others and cares about the community. She believes she can make a difference.
