Ashley Jensen joins Alison O'Donnell as Shetland returns with a fresh mystery and a new partnership

WITNESS protection

NEW CRIME DRAMA
Shetland
Wednesday, 9pm, BBC1

A London gangland murder might seem beyond the remit of Shetland's police, but as BBC1's Shetland returns for a new six-part series, temporary DI Alison "Tosh' McIntosh (Alison O'Donnell) is trying to trace a missing witness from a major Met investigation.

Having taken over the top job following the resignation of DI Jimmy Perez (Douglas Henshall) at the Phyllis end of the last series, Tosh is joined in the search for witness Ellen, who fled home to Shetland for safety, by London detective Ruth Calder (Extras star Ashley Jensen).

Ruth is also from Shetland, and her homecoming forces her to confront a past she would rather leave undisturbed.

TV Satellite Week caught up with Jensen and O'Donnell to find out more...

How does the relationship between Tosh and newcomer Ruth develop?

Jensen Ruth arrives in Shetland expecting to solve the case and not be there for very long.

The dynamic between them is almost between two different types of policing - urban policing from the Met in London contrasting with a slower-paced, more rural attitude.
