If you missed it first time round, this eight-part historical drama is well worth catching as it follows shrewd 16th-century noblewoman Catherine de' Medici, played by Samantha Morton (right), who marries into the backstabbing French court as an orphaned teenager to become wife of the future King Henri II (Lee Ingleby). Catherine must use her cunning to survive when her dowry goes unpaid and her husband ignores her in favour of his mistress.
