Leo Suter plays an aristocratic detective in a crime-drama reboot

- ELAINE REILLY

Crime-drama fans will remember Nathaniel Parker in the role of aristocratic Detective Inspector Thomas Lynley, who rejected his life of privilege in favour of a policing career.

The Inspector Lynley Mysteries was a big hit when it ran on BBC1 between 2001 and 2008, and now the channel is rebooting the popular show in a modern makeover starring Leo Suter as the upper-crust copper.

‘I was only seven when the first series came out. I watched Nat Parker's interpretation as part of my preparation and really enjoyed it,’ says Suter, who's best known for playing royal warrior Harald Sigurdsson in Netflix series Vikings: Valhalla. ‘Our version is quite different because it’s released almost 20 years later, but it pays homage to the previous version.’
