There is greed, intrigue and betrayal worthy of Succession in 5's Australia-set four-part thriller The Imposter.

Neighbours star Jackie Woodburne plays Helen, the steely Northern Ireland-born owner of a luxury Melbourne hotel who has health issues and is under increasing pressure from her three grownup children to sell the seaside resort.

However, Helen's world is turned upside down when a British con woman (Kym Marsh) turns up unannounced and claims to be her long-lost daughter Amanda.

'Helen's children are all part of the family business, but she is hiding a huge secret from them,' says Marsh, 49. 'She had an older daughter called Amanda who was adopted as a young baby in the UK.
