Bettany Hughes unearths more remarkable stories from the past

- WORDS: NATASHA HOLT, IAN MACEWAN, ELAINE REILLY PHOTOS: BBC, C4, GETTY, SKY

Historian Bettany Hughes sets off on another quest to uncover long-forgotten tales from past civilisations in her latest C4 series, visiting new excavation sites and discovering remarkable artefacts that offer a fresh take on the history of the countries they were found in.

I'm on a global voyage of discovery to explore our shared heritage and how our past shapes all of our lives,' she says.

In the fourth series of Bettany Hughes' Treasures of the World, the classical history expert visits Croatia, Bulgaria, Uzbekistan, Switzerland, the Greek island of Rhodes, Oman and Estonia, finding everything from a former playground for rich Romans to a 10,000-year-old piece of chewing gum.
