Tom Hiddleston is on the trail of a South American weapons dealer in a much-anticipated sequel series

It’s been nearly a decade since Tom Hiddleston swept on to our screens as undercover spy Jonathan Pine in The Night Manager, giving a performance that earned him a Golden Globe and launched his career as a leading man.

So, we can barely contain our excitement at the prospect of heading back into the murky world of international espionage in a six-part sequel - inspired by John le Carré’s 1993 novel – beginning on BBC1 on New Year's Day.

The first season followed Jonathan as he was recruited by MI6 intelligence officer Angela Burr (Olivia Colman) to investigate the inner workings of a powerful arms operation run by Richard Roper (Hugh Laurie).
