Ke Huy Quan joins a crazy cast of animals - alongside a hair-raising horse - in Zootropolis 2

PREPARE FOR A TRULY wild animated adventure when Zootropolis 2 roars into cinemas. The followup to the 2016 Disney film - which is also known as Zootopia, Zoomania and Zootopie in other parts of the world - is jam-packed with fur-raising fun and a stack of wise-cracking new creature characters.

When it comes to the newcomers for the sequel, top of the list is a 10 metre-long pit viper called Gary (voiced by The Goonies and Indiana Jones actor Ke Huy Quan). Fans of the first film might recall that there were no reptiles in the plot. Instead, the narrative focused on mammals; specifically the relationship between an optimistic rabbit, Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin), and a super-sly fox, Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman).

“For Zootopia 2, we knew we were going to bring reptiles into the story,” says the movie’s writer/co-director Jared Bush. “What would be a type of reptile that would make mammals the most nervous? For a lot of us, there is a builtin fear of snakes, so we knew it had to be a snake. An extremely dangerous snake is even better. How about making the most dangerous snake ever the sweetest character in the entire movie? That’s where our thought process took us.”
