FACING THE SILENT STRUGGLE

Infertility is no longer a taboo, it's a growing health issue that demands open discussion, timely action, and understanding.

FACING THE SILENT STRUGGLE

Infertility is becoming an increasingly common concern for couples around the world. Today, one in every eight couples is facing some form of infertility, a number that might surprise many, but is the harsh reality.

It is important to understand that infertility doesn't just mean an inability to have children, it means struggling to conceive even after a year of regular, unprotected sex. This can be emotionally exhausting, financially draining, and socially isolating. The good news? With awareness and early intervention, many of these problems can be managed or even prevented.

Why is infertility on the rise?

There are multiple causes — some are medical, others are lifestyle-related, and some are just about timing.

Female Factors:

Modern-day women are achieving great heights in their careers, which is commendable. However, in many cases, this also means delaying marriage and childbirth, often until their late thirties or even forties. While this is a personal choice, the biological clock does not wait. A woman's egg quality and quantity start to decline with age, making it harder to conceive naturally.

Other health issues also play a role:

  • Hormonal imbalances, such as Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), are now common among young women.

  • Medical conditions like diabetes, thyroid disorders, and high blood pressure can affect fertility.

  • Infections of the reproductive tract can cause pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) or block the fallopian tubes, making it difficult for the egg and sperm to meet.
