A COLD WAR INTELLIGENCE OPERATIVE PENS HIS CONTROVERSIAL MEMOIR
Will Britten (a pseudonym) was a captain in the Intelligence Corps who served in Northern Ireland with the Force Research Unit before being posted to BRIXMIS, the British Commanders’-in-Chief Mission to the Soviet Forces in Germany in the late 1980s. BRIXMIS was a small, secret unit based in West Berlin tasked with intelligence collection inside East Germany. Britten writes a lively and personal memoir about his experiences as a part-time tour officer, operating in the GDR, ‘observing’ (ie spying on) the Soviets and East Germans.
