My father, Mark Davis, opened a toy shop called Cavalier in Green Street in around 1982. The store was previously Marks & Spencer. Unfortunately, it was a very large store and was under resourced, so only lasted about a year. However, his other store, Mark for Toys in East Ham High Street, stayed open for another decade until my parents retired. You may remember it had a West Ham United concession in the store, which was very unusual if not unique and Trevor Brooking was star guest at the official opening.
