With macOS ramping up security protection in Sequoia, and adding its own password manager, most users shouldn't need to pay a subscription for more. ESET Home Security adds value with its software firewall and unlimited VPN though, and is a particularly good option for those with Windows PCs or Android devices to support.

Installation proceeds well until its improved installer has to negotiate the usual tripwires in macOS. There it has to install extensions that macOS fusses over, but after flicking a few switches in System Settings it should end well.
