He couldn’t get out of his work obligations. So after making an appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Dec. 13 holiday party, where he was lauded for his philanthropy, Travis Kelce reportedly ducked out early to head home for a more private celebration: his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s 35th birthday. “He wanted to make this one extra special,” a source says of the football star, who reportedly lavished her with $175,000 in gifts, including 35 bouquets of roses and jewelry from Tiffany, Van Cleef & Arpels and Rolex.

Soon, she’ll be wearing a new ring, too. “As far as their friends and family are concerned, it’s not a question of if they’ll get married, but when,” the source says of the pair, who have been dating for a year-and-a-half. And while they “have never felt the need to rush into marriage,” says the source, “the timing is finally right.” Taylor just finished her Eras Tour and football season is ending soon, “so the countdown to their wedding has begun.”

There have been many signs indicating their intentions in recent months. In October, Travis, 35, made it clear he’d given thought to taking the “next steps” in a relationship — listing a set of milestones that he and Taylor had already reached — and gushed that “me and Tay are absolutely happy.” That same month, Taylor’s dad, Scott, reportedly told a stranger that “out of all of her boyfriends…Travis has made the biggest impact.” In November, Travis’ brother, Jason, didn’t even try to correct sports analyst Pat McAfee when he referred to Taylor as his “future sister-in-law” on ESPN’s College Game Day.
