On Having Teen Daughters Every Day is a Roller Coaster!

Being a mom to teenage girls isn't for the faint of heart. “It’s such a roller coaster. Every day is a new journey,” says Alyson Hannigan, who shares Satyana, 16, and Keeva, 13, with her actor husband of 11 years, Alexis Denisof, 59. While she says navigating screen time and social media use has been especially challenging of late, she’s quick to note that she wouldn't trade any of it for the world. “I just try to cherish every single minute, even the ones where I’m like, ‘Oh, when is this moment going to pass?’ Because it just flies by.” The 51-year-old Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum talks to In Touch’s Lindsay Hoffman about partnering with GSK for their Ask2BSure campaign (which aims to raise awareness about Meningococcal disease, also known as meningitis), motherhood and the latest on the Buffy reboot.

What's the best piece of parenting advice you ever received?

AH: The days are long but the years are short — [that one] is so true. And to enjoy the ride. I’ve had wonderful support teams and people around me to navigate obstacles.

How important is your mom tribe?

AH: It’s such a community. When I first became a mom, I felt like, “Oh, I just got let into this secret club.” You think you're right on track, and then you hear about this, and you're like, “Whoa. I have to check with my doctor and get the information.” It’s such a common shared experience, and you're going through similar things.
