Meghan Markle declines to join Prince Harry at the official ceremony celebrating King Charles III

After months of speculation, royal aides finally confirmed that Prince Harry will be in London to watch his father, Charles, officially crowned king. “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May,” they announced in a statement about Harry on April 12. But they added, “The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”

That’s right: Meghan Markle is snubbing her father-in-law. “Charles invited her as an olive branch after all the harm she and Harry have caused,” says a source, referencing the pair’s interviews and Harry’s tell-all, Spare. “And what did he get in return? A big slap in the face!” And while she has good reason to skip the big day — Archie turns 4 on May 6 — this is a calculated move on Meghan’s part, says the source: “She’s telling friends she didn’t want the coronation to turn into The Harry and Meghan Show, but the truth is: She doesn’t want to be where she’s not wanted.”
