SCOTT PETERSON: ATTACKED IN THE YARD

The fight escalated quickly. “I just went into attack mode,” Charles Miles, an inmate at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, Calif., told Court TV of seeing Scott Peterson running at him with a pickleball racket while chasing down a ball on March 9. The pair rolled around on the ground, Miles claimed, and Scott even bit his thumb. When Miles finally got the upper hand, “I just started swinging. I beat the hell out of him.” Guards broke up the brawl and Miles eventually apologized, he told Court TV, confessing that seeing the “baby killer” Scott was convicted of the 2002 murders of his wife, Laci, and unborn son — “triggered a primal urge.” Miles added that Scott, who is very tan right now and doesn't have the “clean cut” look one might expect, “tried to convince me that he didn't do it.”

He's always said that. Last year, the LA Innocence Project took on Scott's case, and a judge recently granted them access to old evidence, which they hope will lead to a new trial. “If I have a chance to show people what the truth is, and if they are willing to accept it, it would be the biggest thing I can accomplish right now,” Scott said in a 2024 Peacock documentary.
