STRAPPED TO SUCCESS

FRIEDERIKE'S HOLIDAY GAVE HER AN IDEA THAT HAS TURNED INTO A SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS

Going on holiday to a different country, you often come across a few products you've never seen before. But when Friederike Kuehn travelled from Brisbane to visit her family in Germany in 2021, she was surprised to see one in particular that everyone had there but nobody had back in Australia: phone straps.

“Friends, family, everyone had these straps attached to their phones so they were hands-free - and they said they'd had them for years,” Friederike, 42, tells WHO. “I bought one and it was super handy for travelling. It made my phone secure from pickpockets and it was always on hand to take photos.”

However, there was one thing she didn’t like: how flimsy the straps were. “Sometimes, it takes a bit longer for products to get to Australia, but I thought that we needed to have this and I also thought I could do it better,” Friederike says.

Back home, she started sampling to get the right type of strap that was both strong and stylish.
