LOU RICE'S SIMPLE KINDLE SOLUTION HAS CHANGED HER LIFE

Lou Rice never expected to come up with a life-changing business idea in the fog of new motherhood. But actually, it was exactly that fog that inspired her multimillion-dollar invention. “I was breastfeeding my 3-month-old, Archie, and reading my Kindle when I nodded off,” Lou tells WHO. “I dropped the Kindle on Archie’s head and we all ended up in tears.”

Thankfully, no harm was done, but the next day Lou’s partner, Ben Stainlay, had a look in his drawer of tricks for something to solve the problem.

“Ben’s a bit of a hoarder of materials for inventions – he’s very creative,” says Lou, who hails from Queensland and now calls Bali home. “He had a piece of silicon matting and he fashioned a strap for me to hold my Kindle.” A few weeks later, and with no more dropped device incidents, Lou wondered if they might be onto a winner.
