SLENDER MAN CASE STABBER SET FREE

Geyser has been held in the Winnebago Mental Health Institute since she pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide and was deemed mentally ill in 2018 for a brutal assault on Payton Leutner.

Geyser and friend Anissa Weier lured Payton to a park in Wisconsin in May 2014 before Geyser viciously stabbed her 19 times and left her for dead. Despite her life-threatening injuries, Payton ultimately survived. The case sent shockwaves around the world due to the young age of the trio - they were all just 12 at the time.

"In reviewing all the reports in the matter, I'm satisfied, under the circumstances, that the court is going to grant the release," Judge Michael Bohren told the court on January 9.
