NARELLE PLAPP BUILT ON HER FIRST BUSINESS GAINS TO CREATE SOMETHING EVEN BIGGER AND BETTER

- Emma Levett

SERIAL SUCCESS

Twenty years ago, Narelle Plapp was weighing out ingredients on her kitchen table, making her gluten-free muesli by hand.

Fast-forward to now and her brand, Food for Health, has become a household name and she employs 85 full-time, muesli-making staff in a Victorian manufacturing company, which not only creates her product, but also those of big names like Sanitarium, Nestlé and Coles.

"I never anticipated that I'd be running a 24-hour manufacturing business," Narelle, 50, who began her career as a naturopath, tells WHO. "But people who know me know I don't take no for an answer. I'm pretty resilient and I'll always find a solution to a problem."

imageNarelle started her muesli-making mission when she realised that some of the clients she was seeing as a naturopath needed a gluten-free breakfast product. Back in 2005, there was not much on the market that fitted that brief.
