THE GIRLS STAR MAKES HER TRIUMPHANT RETURN TO THE SMALL SCREEN

Lena Dunham I'm not retired'

The millennial icon that is Lena Dunham is back, with possibly her most personal project yet. Proving once again she can - and will - do it all, she not only created and wrote, but directed and executive produced new Netflix rom-com Too Much. Oh, and she plays a supporting character in the series, too.

Drawing inspiration from her real-life move to London and subsequent whirlwind romance with her now husband, Luis Felber - who co-wrote and co-created the series - the show's title comes from British musician Felber, 39, telling his then girlfriend she was "too much". Understandably, she took it as an insult, until he explained it was a compliment, meaning she was "just enough and a little bit more".

"I never thought I would say something this mortifying, but I wake up every day really excited," Dunham, 39, told Variety. "I really don't take for granted getting to do something for my job that allows me - as an oddball, chronically ill, weirdo woman - to put all of myself into something. And I just feel so lucky that I'm still getting to do it."

imageSet between New York and London, Too Much follows Jessica (Megan Stalter), a recently dumped young American woman who moves across the Atlantic in search of something, or anything. that feels real. There, she meets Felix (Will Sharpe), a sweet but troubled indie musician who's carrying his own emotional baggage. What follows is awkward, romantic, painfully honest and, at times, very funny.

Her own love story with Felber has followed a similar narrative. Dunham left New York in 2021 during her acting hiatus, moving to London. She was set up with Felber on a blind date by a friend shortly after making the move, telling Vanity Fair she was “dazzled by just how much baggage two people could bring to the table”.
