Karen Read trial: 'My side of the story'

After nearly four years and two trials, the nightmare that started for Karen Read in early 2022 has come to an end. On June 18, the 45-year-old Boston woman was acquitted by a jury of the second-degree murder of her partner, John O'Keefe.

Around 6am on January 29, 2022, 46-year-old old police officer John was found unresponsive in the snow outside the home of his colleague Brian Albert in Canton, Massachusetts. Karen had dropped John off at a party the night before and was accused of backing over him with her Lexus SUV while intoxicated and driving off leaving him in the middle of a snowstorm. She admitted that the pair, who had been dating for almost two years, had spent several hours drinking in a bar that evening.
