THE NOUGHTIES HEART-THROB IS A LEADING MAN ONCE AGAIN - AND IN THIS CHAT WITH WHO, OPENS UP ABOUT FATHERHOOD AND HIS CAREER

Josh Harnett's - Renaissan

BACK & BRILLIANT

Hartnett describes Trap as a retro thriller. "It's like a '90s-contained throwback thriller. It'd be like watching Die Hard from Hans Gruber's perspective. Would that be interesting? It turns out it would be." Critics are praising the actor's return.

imageLet's call this what it is: a Josh Hartnett renaissance. The American actor has worked consistently since his days as a teen idol in the early noughties, but in more recent years, the 46-year-old has taken a step back from playing the leading man.

It wasn't for a lack of job offers, but more to preserve his own sanity and safety. During that time, he became romantically involved with British actress Tamsin Egerton, 35. They married in 2021 and share four children.

In 2024, Hartnett is gaining critical raves for his lead role in M. Night Shyamalan's new psychological thriller, Trap. In the film, Hartnett plays Cooper, a mild-mannered firefighter who takes his teen daughter, played by Ariel Donoghue, to a pop concert.

imageIt turns out that law enforcement have used the gig as a trap to lure out and capture the Butcher, an infamous serial killer who's in attendance. Given the director involved, there's a twist or two in the story, although the fact that Cooper is the murderer in question is established early on.

Here, Hartnett tells WHO about his early fame, his 'renaissance' and being a dad.

You never disappeared from our screens, yet critics are calling Trap your big comeback. After starring in a run of huge films in your twenties, what made you want to jump off the industry treadmill?
