THE ACTRESS TALKS ALL THINGS PAPER DOLLS AND HER WICKEDLY GOOD STAGE ROLE

She’s become a veritable force in the world of theatre with her roles in the Aussie rendition of Disney’s Frozen the Musical and the 20th anniversary production of the hit Broadway musical, Wicked, and Courtney Monsma hasn’t strayed far from the stage when it comes to her latest gig – starring as aspiring singer, Lillian, in the new series Paper Dolls. “Having the opportunity to do both is a dream come true and thankfully, my theatre work really helped my process in Paper Dolls,” she tells WHO.

With her feet firmly in the world of showbusiness and having released her own debut album, In The Light, last year, getting into character wasn’t too much of a stretch for Monsma. And her love of a ’90s girl band didn’t hurt either. “I did so much research prior to shooting which is always one of the favourite parts of the process,” she explains. “Luckily, I already had such an interest in the time period, specifically girl groups and pop stars. I always loved the Spice Girls and watched quite a few documentaries to see their lifestyle in the spotlight on and off camera.”
