These celebrities are leading the charge when it comes to protecting our planet
Eilish was raised with sustainability at home and now she's bringing that same eco-conscious mindset to her massive global tours.
Planet-First Pop
For Billie Eilish, an eco-friendly lifestyle is all she knows.
“[Growing up], we always used dish towels instead of paper napkins — everything was reusable, truly,” the Grammy winner has said. “And I didn’t even know it was weird. When I started dating, the people I was [with] would be like, ‘Do you have any paper towels?” Turns out, the house she grew up in didn’t have any single-use items. Eilish was raised in a solar-powered home, and in 2014, her parents even removed their front lawn to conserve water. “We always joke that my kids grew up in the house where you got the stink eye if you came in with a plastic bag or if you wasted anything,” said Eilish’s mom, Maggie Baird.
The “Birds of a Feather” singer has brought that same ethos on the road. During 2024-2025’s Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour, Eilish made a concerted effort to reduce the tour’s carbon footprint. Water refill stations were installed at venues, and fans were encouraged to bring their own reusable bottles. She partnered with Google Maps to help concertgoers find real-time public transit, walking directions and fuel-efficient driving routes, ensured plant-based food options were available at every stop, produced merch using recycled or organic materials and eliminated plastic bags.
For Eilish, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s simply the way she was raised.
