Josh Gad Rips the Band-Aid Off

Josh Gad is so much more than simply a J musical Mormon and an animated snowman. Instead of a quick rise to fame, Gad, 43, ended up on the tortoise route, slowly putting in the work, with tough times and setbacks along the way. Today he's officially made it, and he tells tales both personal and professional in the essay-style memoir In Gad We Trust: A Tell-Some (out Jan. 14).

What, you ask, is a "tellsome"? "It's more of a joke. If anything, I tell all and then some," Gad shares with Us. "The more vulnerable I got, the more I allowed myself to go down that path, even though I was scared and maybe resistant. I decided if I'm going to give people a reason to read this, I need to give myself a reason to say this." Poignantly, he reveals how having a father who was absent for most of his life has impacted him as dad to Ava, 13, and Isabella, 10 (with actress wife Ida Darvish). But he also offers lots of showbiz anecdotes! "I enjoyed the hell out of writing [the book], and I hope everyone who reads it takes away something that's useful and inspires them," he says. "At the very least, I hope they have a good laugh." Here's more.
