Millions of fans around the world rejoice as NFL star Travis Kelce pops the question to Taylor Swift

They've been dubbed America's own “royal couple”, and Taylor Swift and new fiancé Travis Kelce sparked a global frenzy as they announced their engagement in spectacular style last week.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” wrote the singer in a surprise Instagram post, which generated a staggering 14 million likes in just over an hour.

The post was accompanied by a series of photos of the pair, both 35, including one of Kansas City Chiefs footballer Travis on bended knee as he popped the question. The romantic setting for the proposal, decked out with flowers, is thought to be the garden of Travis's mansion in Leawood, Kansas. In the photos Taylor shows off her breathtaking engagement ring, featuring a large oval-shaped diamond set in yellow gold, estimated to be worth up to £1.5 million.
