Supplements fail to lower cholesterol

SAVE money — and your health! Six common supplements marketed for supposed heart benefits don’t reduce cholesterol as well as doctor-prescribed statins, says a new study.

Scientists reporting to the American Heart Association say the over-the-counter pills failed to lower levels of LDL — known as bad cholesterol — as well as everyday lowdose statin medication.
