Cynthia Nixon gets real on life with two hit shows and whether she's an Ada or a Miranda

- KATHY ELLIS

DOUBLE THE FUN

Audiences likely recognize Cynthia Nixon as Miranda, the somewhat jaded voice of reason in the Sex and the City franchise including season 3 of spinoff series And Just Like That..., which premiered in May. And while the actress, 59, is grateful to have played the tough but lovable character opposite Sarah Jessica Parker for 27 years, it does come with one negative aspect.

“The only real downside is if people only think of me as that character,” explains Cynthia. “But I have been lucky to be offered different kinds of roles.”

A great example: her gig as Ada Forte (née Brook) on historical drama The Gilded Age, now in its third season. Here, the mother of three chats about the exciting role and how she finds balance between her two characters.
