Every year, Princess Anne’s Gloucestershire estate throws open its gates for the three-day Magic Millions Festival of British Eventing in early August, during which up to 20,000 visitors rub elbows with their royal hosts. And this year marks the 40th anniversary!

SISTER ACT

Olympic silver medallist Zara, 42, is among the competitors, many of whom fly in from around the world, while her big brother, Peter, 45, is director of the event and Mark, Anne’s first husband and an Olympic gold winning equestrian himself, is the course designer.

“It’s great fun and very much a family affair,” a close friend of Peter tells
