STARS BRING GLITZ TO BERLIN

Celebrities turn out in style for the city's renowned film festival, with Tilda Swinton revealing how visiting the Berlinale in her youth changed her life

The temperatures in Berlin may have been sub-zero, but that didn't stop some of the most stylish stars in Hollywood dressing up in the most glamorous of gowns for the city's annual international film festival last week.

Serene in strapless custom Chanel, Marion Cotillard cut an elegant figure on the red carpet as she made a star turn in front of waiting photographers.

The French actress was attending the premiere of her latest film, The Ice Tower, which is based on Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen.

She told reporters that her personal life is very different to the roles she plays on screen. "The general public have always invented the lives of actors they've never met," she said.

Tilda Swinton, dressed in a custom navy Chanel coat dress, was another Hollywood star who turned heads before the opening ceremony, where she received the Honorary Golden Bear award for lifetime achievement.
