As a young girl with boundless energy and a passion for horses, Sarah, Duchess of York once harboured a dream of Olympic glory.

Digging out precious childhood photographs as she congratulated Team GB on their first gold medal at the Olympic Games in Paris, she posted archive snaps of herself as a young girl on horseback.

The pictures which include a sweet image of Sarah standing outside a stable, sporting striped socks and with her red hair pushed back by a headband - reveal her youthful desire for sporting success.
