'I FEEL BEAUTIFUL WHEN I'M HAPPY'

As she embraces turning 50, Charlize Theron opens up about Hollywood, motherhood – and her love of yoga and crisps

As she celebrates turning 50, the Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron says she's embracing getting older and feels happier and more confident than ever.

"I love it," she says of the milestone, which took place on 7 August. "I love being the age I am. I wouldn't want to go back to being in my twenties. There are only two things we know for sure in life - that we're going to die and age - so what are we going to do about that?"

The straight-talking South African was a model in her teens, before moving to the US and becoming an actress. And part of the joy of getting older is feeling comfortable in your own skin, she says.

"The older you get, the more relaxed about it you are. When I was younger, it was as if you had to walk into a room and prove to everybody that you could do it. It's a combination of opportunities and age that gives you that extra confidence."
