Surrounded by white sand and palm trees, Brooke Shields couldn't have looked happier as she rang in her 60th trip around the sun.

The US actress kicked off her “new decade of life” with a beautiful birthday photo that sees her beaming from ear to ear against a glorious tropical backdrop. In the dazzling beach-side photo, which she posted on Instagram, the Hollywood star models sea-drenched hair and a black bikini as she relaxes on a hammock, her stylish straw hat on hand to shade her from the sun.

“Woke up today in paradise... and in a new decade of life! This is 60! Thank you for all of the birthday love,” she wrote.
