Relaxing with their sons and dogs at their home in Old Windsor, Sir Elton John and his husband, David Furnish, give the world a rare glimpse into their private family life.

The couple posed in their extensive library, alongside sons Zachary, 15, and Elijah, 13, and their pet labradors Joseph and Jacob, for a special portrait that went on display in the National Portrait Gallery in London last week.

Commissioned by the gallery and taken by the renowned photographer Catherine Opie, it shows the legendary British musician and his film-maker husband sitting side by side on a sofa in front of packed, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves.
