Rob Lowe's son John Owen has Along enjoyed teasing his famous father on social media. But recently, as the pair swapped online banter, they realised they had a hit TV show on their hands.

Father and son now star in Netflix comedy series Unstable and, as it returns for a second season, former Brat Pack star Rob explains how the concept was born out of their reallife relationship.

"My son and I had this running joke which involved him trolling just about everything I posted on social media to the point that everyone started talking about it and getting a kick out of it," Rob says. "John Owen and I got talking about it and that's when the idea of maybe using the idea for a show came up. I have to give my son credit for that because the idea of turning this running gag into a show was really his. It's an exaggerated version of who we are as father and son."

Rob plays Ellis Dragon, an eccentric and narcissistic owner of a high-tech research facility who employs his shy, socially awkward son Jackson, who tries to stop his father spiralling after the death of his wife.
