Lexus RX500h F Sport

June - July 2024

Things may be different in India, but the RX is the best-selling Lexus model worldwide. First launched in 1998, and now in its fifth generation, the RX stands for Radiant Crossover. While the RX350h has been on sale here for a long time, it is the first time we are getting the more performance-oriented RX500h F Sport.

Lexus RX500h F Sport

Built on the TNGA K platform, the new RX has a 60mm longer wheelbase and is 25mm wider than before. It is also 90 kilos lighter and has a 15mm lower centre of gravity. The styling is quite different from anything else they offer in the segment. The sharp creases and the chiseled edges look like they belong more on a sportscar than a family SUV. The headlamps are slim, black-tinted units with built-in orange side markers to meet US regulations.

The traditional spindle grille makes way for an abstract one that dissolves onto the bumper as it goes up. The Lexus RX has a substantial front overhang and a noticeably short rear overhang. Whether you like it or not, is a different question; but the overall styling is a massive improvement on the last generation. The sharp lines have turned softer and more organic. The rear quarter glass angles downwards as opposed to most cars where it goes up. The rear has an extended light strip that emphasizes the width of the car. This F Sport trim finished in Deep blue Mica has more aggressive air intakes and bigger 21-inch black matte wheels to complete the look.
