Astrology Myths & Mysteries: What's Real & What's Fake

Quick-fixes, predictions and gem-studded solutions seem to dominate the space. But does astrology really work that way? Or are we missing its deeper purpose?

We sat down with Shivaani Banssal, an astrologer, numerologist, and Vastu expert, to understand and decode astrology’s real role in our lives. What followed was a conversation that cut through myths and placed responsibility back in our hands.

Astrology is not a shortcut

Shivaani explains that astrology is not a one-size-fits-all remedy. It's about context. “People think that if they wear a stone, it will fix everything,” she shares. “But unless we see your chart, understand your karmic balance, and the real cause of the problem, no stone or ritual will help. It’s like giving medicine without a diagnosis.”

She believes that this clarity is missing in the social media-driven astrology boom. Viral clips often sell instant results, for example, a mantra for money, a stone to find love, or a pooja for a career. “That's dangerous,” Shivani says firmly. “Astrology has the power to heal, but it must be applied responsibly.”

Debunking the biggest myths

Shivaani also debunked many myths revolving around astrology.

Myth 1: Stones change destiny.

Shivani explains that stones act like amplifiers; they enhance what already exists in your chart. “But if you don’t have the capacity in your karma to achieve something, no stone will create it for you. It can only support.”

Myth 2: Shani is a punisher.
