FROM THE DETAILS OF MEENAKARI TO THE ELEGANCE OF THEWA, DISCOVER THE HERITAGE JEWELS OF RAJASTHAN THAT ADORN A BRIDE FROM HER HEAD TO HER TOES

Bejewelled In Tradition

It is impossible to dethrone Rajasthan from the top of the list of the go-to destinations for weddings. The backdrop of a palatial palace and the sound of Rajasthani folk music mixed with the culturally rich air of the state will enthral you with its charm. Like a visit to Delhi is a must before you pick your wedding lehenga, Rajasthan is a one-stop shop for all your wedding trousseau jewellery sets and pieces. From kundan meena, jadau, and polki to thewa and traditional Rajasthani ornaments, the state holds a rich heritage in crafting jewels.

Kundan Meenakari

Whether it is Deepika Padukone's kundan meena maang tikka and necklace at her Sindhi wedding ceremony or Nita Ambani's opulent kundan polki set from the Anant-Radhika extravaganza, kundan pieces are a staple heirloom, treasured for their rich enamel work, historical value, and dual-sided beauty. These pieces assume much significance in the jewellery kits of brides, representing royalty and heritage. They are usually handed down through generations and are treasured items.

With origins in the Rajput and Mughal eras, the kundan meena is one of the earliest jewellery crafts in the country. While the craft existed in the subcontinent much before, it flourished only under the Mughal patronage. The wealthy royal families of Rajputana were quick to follow lead. Royals employed kaarigars (craftsmen) who mastered the art of kundan meena. They crafted beautiful pieces, including brooches for men and earrings, necklaces, and chokers for women.

imageJaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan continues to be the epicentre of kundan meena craftsmanship. Artisans across generations have devoted their lives to this craft. Udaipur and Bikaner follow close behind and also have a strong tradition of this form of jewellery.

Why Leaders Fail

The promise of the future is frequently overshadowed by the weight of legacy. History demonstrates that great leaders and businesses fail because they cling too tightly to their past achievements, thus blurring their vision and ambition for the future.
