RTP Technology: A Composite Evolution

RTP consists of three key layers:

1. Thermoplastic Liner - Provides chemical resistance and fluid containment, typically made from polyethylene (PE), polyamide (PA), or polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF).

2. Reinforcement LayerEnhances structural integrity using aramid fibers, glass fibers, or steel wire to withstand high pressures.

3. Outer Protective Layer - Shields the pipe from UV exposure, mechanical damage, and environmental degradation.

Unlike steel pipelines, RTP does not suffer from corrosion, scaling, or hydrogen embrittlement, reducing the need for expensive coatings, cathodic protection, and frequent maintenance (Amaya et al., 2018). Its flexibility and spoolable design make it easy to transport and install, lowering both CAPEX and OPEX.
