According to a recent research study titled Future of Airport Industry to 2040, released by MarketsandMarkets, global investment in the airport sector is projected to surge from USD 200 billion in 2021 to an estimated USD 2,404 billion by 2040, reflecting a robust CAGR of 14. 4 per cent. This sharp increase highlights the accelerating momentum behind airport modernisation and expansion worldwide.
The report notes that major regional investments in the airport industry are part of a broader global push to expand capacity, strengthen connectivity, and upgrade ageing assets. This push is fuelled by expectations of sustained growth in international and domestic passenger traffic, the rising strategic importance of key regions as global transit hubs, and the growing recognition of airports as catalysts for economic development, trade, and tourism.
