India, the world's fourth-largest aviation industry, is experiencing continuous infrastructure development, middle-class growth, and an increase in demand for both domestic and international travel. India will likely surpass the UK as the third-largest air passenger market by 2024. According to the India Brand Equity Foundation (IBEF), travel and tourism might generate around $500 billion in economic output by 2028.
The sector encompasses more than just airlines; it also includes aviation retail, hotels, and airport management, maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) operations. The government intends to operationalize 100 airports under the Regional Connectivity Scheme by 2024 because airports are crucial to this ecosystem.
India plans to have between 190 and 200 airports operating by 2040, providing significant opportunities for professional advancement.
