Healthcare Radius
|December 2024
Through innovative programs, strategic partnerships, hospitals are reshaping the healthcare landscape. The future lies not just in treating diseases but in creating healthier, more equitable societies one community, one patient at a time.
-
In an era where healthcare extends far beyond hospital walls, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has emerged as a critical component of institutional mission and vision. The transformation of hospitals from mere treatment centers to comprehensive community partners reflects an extreme shift in healthcare delivery, addressing complex challenges that transcend traditional clinical interventions. This evolution represents a growing recognition that true healing encompasses not just individual patient care, but broader societal well-being, making healthcare a fundamental human right that transcends economic and social barriers.
COMMUNITY-FOCUSSED INTERVENTIONS
Across India, leading hospitals are pioneering innovative CSR initiatives that target some of the most pressing health challenges facing underserved communities. These efforts demonstrate a deep understanding of the interconnected nature of health and society, with institutions developing unique approaches to address diverse community needs. Among these pioneers, Artemis Hospitals stands out for its strategic focus on preventive health and environmental sustainability, particularly through their alignment with national priorities like the Prime Minister's Tuberculosis Elimination Program. As Dr. Sujata Soy, Principal Lead of CSR, Artemis Hospital explained, "Artemis CSR projects are very much community need base, like on preventive health, Tuberculosis Screening and Awareness, along with the Nutrition support, which is one of the most successful program we are implementing at the Urban Migrant Slums and community engagement, which is the USP. Evidence suggests that nutritional support interventions are associated with better outcomes in TB patients including reduced mortality, improved weight gain and body composition."

WHY SURGEONS ARE TURNING TO ROBOTIC-ASSISTED JOINT REPLACEMENT
India is witnessing a growing burden of joint-related disorders, particularly osteoarthritis, which is emerging as a leading cause of disability among adults. An estimated 50 million Indians are affected by the condition, with knee osteoarthritis being a major contributor. With an ageing population, rising obesity, increased life expectancy, and sedentary lifestyles, the need for advanced orthopedic interventions continues to rise. As awareness and aspirations for better quality of life grow, patients are increasingly seeking joint replacement solutions that offer durability, reduced pain, and faster recovery.
