Turning the Screw on the Humble Screw

True entrepreneurship doesn't recognise boundaries, especially when it's driven by a passion to make a difference in a passive space. Intrinsic to the manufacturing industry in their many avatars, screws and fasteners never really merited a second glance in the bigger picture, except for those for whom it really mattered.

The Lidoo brothers, Pankaj (Managing Director and Vipin (Director), hail from the industrial town of Ghaziabad, Delhi NCR. In the late 1990s they decided to kick up a small storm by reinventing the life and times of screws and fasteners. The times were changing for India's construction sector and quite soon the duo discovered a window of opportunity for their expertise on discovering the frustrations of the construction wallahs who were witnessing the onset of colour-coated sheet profiling technology. The new technology was holding the entire industry hostage pan India, because the specialized self-drilling screws it needed could only be sourced at the time from Taiwan at exorbitant rates, causing unnecessary delays and rising costs in projects.

Rather than get into the numbers game with Taiwanese exporters the duo decided to take the bull by the horns by taking a call to manufacture these screws and fasteners in India itself.
