THEY WALKED IN not just as leaders but as architects of change—women who have rewritten rules, reimagined roles, and risen through the ranks to shape the contours of India's economic and social landscape.

At Fortune India's Most Powerful Women (MPW) awards for 2025, ambition met accomplishment in a celebration of resilience, reinvention, and remarkable leadership.

At Mumbai's Jio World Convention Centre on July 4, the awards unfolded with a powerful message of inclusion and impact. This year marked a pivotal milestone in the award's history: the expansion of the coveted list from 50 to 100 women achievers. "We believe a country as diverse and vast as India should celebrate more women doing groundbreaking work in their respective fields, and having an expanded list enables us to bring in more people whose work deserves to be celebrated," said Sourav Majumdar, editor-in-chief, Fortune India, in his address.

He also highlighted the current challenges the world faces in upholding equity and pluralism. "In the U.S., there is a debate around diversity and inclusion, and whether that impacts meritocracy, but the leading voices we spoke to while putting together the MPW issue also explained why diversity, equity, and inclusion are important for business and growth. However, diversity should be followed in spirit, and not just as a tick-in-the-box activity,” he explained.
