Agri investment group sells two pome fruit farms

Agriculture-focused investment group Zeder recently announced the finalisation of the sale of Theewaterskoof Farm to the Japie Groenewald Trust for a disposal consideration of R283 million, and Applethwaite Farm to Vredenhof Beleggings Pty Ltd for R190 million.
The disposals still need to be approved by the Competition Commission, and the buyers would also have to pay for agricultural inputs on hand and the 2025 seasonal costs already incurred.
Johann le Roux, CEO of Zeder, told Farmer's Weekly that the sale formed part of a larger strategy to maximise wealth for shareholders and had nothing to do with the profitability of the farms or the pome fruit industry.
